Alongside with the ANP, an effective mechanism of cooperation with the Alliance is the Planning and Review Process Document (PARP), which Georgia acceded to in March 1999.Within the framework of this two-year cycle, the country implements the Partnership Goals (PGs) which increases interoperability with NATO and ensures successful participation in the NATO-led peacekeeping operations.
Under the PARP, the issues within the competence of the MIA are mainly covering maritime security development, namely:
- Modernization of GCG patrol boats in compliance with NATO standards;
- Improvement of port and harbor protection;
- Participation in anti-terrorist operation “SEA GUARDIAN” in the Mediterranean Sea.
