The GBP CG VBSS Teams (Tactical Units) successfully accomplished NATO OCC E&F evaluation 4 year process, which paved the way to Georgia's Operational partner status to NATO-led maritime security operation ''Sea Guardian''. Operation Sea guardian was launched in November 2016 (following the discontinuation of the Operation Active Endeavour), with the main purpose to tackle terrorist threats and irregular migration. Mediterranean Sea was designated as main operational area. With the aim to contribute to overall security and raise interoperability with NATO, in 2016 Georgia declared two GBP CG VBSS Teams (CG Law Enforcement Tactical Units) to the NATO Pool of Forces. Since 2016, 4 stages of NATO Evaluation has been executed and CG VBSS Teams have successfully accomplished all stages of evaluation that makes them fully interoperable with the NATO Standing Naval Forces.
