Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs met with the members of 19 families of the MIA employees fallen in August war in 2008. The meeting was attended by the families from Tbilisi and different regions of Georgia.
Before the meeting Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili and the family members of the fallen employees of the MIA laid the flowers and a wreath on the memorial of the policemen fallen in the line of duty located in the yard of the Ministry.
The Minister of Internal Affairs addressed the family members of the deceased employees: "The August 2008 war sacrificed the lives of the heroes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The contribution made by each employee is valuable and proud. They brought up the example to future generations. We will honor their memory forever and support their families. You know and feel it ... and it will always be so!... I look at the children of our heroes and have the strong sense that they are the future of our guys, they are our generation to be proud of, and they will carry the honorable names of their fathers. We, on our part, will maximally support you. You should know that every policeman is your and your family friend. Each police officer is a member of your family. We will do everything to slightly alleviate the pain and burden that took your families after the departure of the heroes. These children are our children. "
The Minister congratulated on the birthdays to the daughters of Gia Romelashvili, deceased policeman – 14-year-old Tamar and 25-year-old Mariam. Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili delivered gifts and financial aids to the family members of all the employees fallen in August war.
19 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs died during August war in 2008.
