The Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri, and the First Deputy Minister - Shalva Bedoidze held a meeting with the leadership of the Central Criminal Police Department.
At the meeting, parties discussed the results of undertaken measures against organized crime and illegal drug trafficking as well as existing challenges. It was mentioned at the meeting that last year, as a result of operational-investigative measures conducted to identify and arrest drug dealers, an unprecedented number of drug dealers were arrested compared to recent years.
At the meeting, implemented and planned measures against trafficking and cybercrime were discussed as well. It should be noted that, according to the US State Department's report on the fight against trafficking, Georgia fully meets international standards and maintains its place in tier one.
At the working meeting, the current and future issues in the direction of international police cooperation were discussed. As of today, 18 police attaches have been deployed to different countries, covering 36 states. It is notable that last year, police attaches were deployed to Ireland and Israel, and this process will continue in the future.
The Minister of Internal Affairs gave appropriate instructions to colleagues regarding the work process and expressed gratitude towards them for their effective work.
