Person (previously convicted S.M. DoB 1974) accused of the assault committed against LTD “ALFA”, who is mentioned in the statement released by the Public Defender, has been identified by the watchmen of “ALFA” company.
Investigation established that on September 22, three armed persons along with the accomplice assaulted “ALFA” company, located on Priest Tevdore Street. Watchmen of the company tried to put up resistance as a result of which, one of the watchman received a head injury with a firearm. The other watchman managed to push the alarm button, which caused more aggressive behavior from the side of the offenders. The confrontation between the offenders and the watchmen evolved into physical confrontation. The offenders attempted to flee from the place of crime.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo police division, as a result of the immediate operative-searching and investigative activities managed to detain T.KH. (DoB 1962) previously convicted B.T. (DoB 1969) and previously convicted B.M. (DoB 1974) at the place of crime. At this moment, investigative and search activities are held in order to detain others involved in the mentioned crime.
Policemen seized the firearm as evidence from the place of crime.
Detainees also confessed that on September 15, they assaulted LTD “Kentavri” located in Aghmashenebeli Avenue. As a result of the search activities held in S.M’s vehicle, law enforcers seized several auto parts, illegally appropriated as a result of armed robbery of “LTD “Kentavri”.
On September 24, 2017 Tbilisi civil court sentenced all three detainees to imprisonment, as preventive measure.
Before placing detainees in temporary detention isolator, they underwent medical examination. Visual examination detected injuries on the body of S.M. According to the statement of the detainee, he received injuries in the moment of detention as a result of falling. He also made an official written statement, asserting that he has no complaints against police and refused to be photographed. Regarding the case, Administration of Temporary Detention Isolator has reported to the MIA General Inspection and Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office.
On September 26, lawyer of Human Rights Center made a call on the hot line of the General Inspection (126) and reported about the physical abuse committed allegedly by the policemen against the detainee. As soon as the report was received, employees of the General Inspection had been trying to contact the initiator of the call for two days, however telephone communication has not yet been established.
On September 27, detainee’s lawyer submitted the statement at the General Inspection. Considering that the submitted statement and report made through the hot line contains information on the possible criminal offence, General Inspection of MIA sent the report as well as the statement to Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office for further response.
