Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili is in the United States within the frames of the official visit. Minister held meeting with the assistant secretary of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs William Brownfield.
At the meeting sides discussed cooperation fields existing between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgian and US Department of State, achieved progress and future plans. “Education is the most powerful tool, therefore one of my priorities include further development of the MIA Academy and its transformation into a regional center, which is the essential condition for strengthening our system even more”-state Minister Giorgi Mgebrishvili. Minister also reviewed traffic safety program and its importance.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili emphasized the long-term and fruitful cooperation between INL which actively assists Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs in conducting reforms aimed towards Euro Atlantic Integration.
Representatives of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs expressed their readiness to continue making efforts in further development of the agency, supported scheduled reforms and got interested in the details of the projects. “We are glad for separating Ministry of Internal Affairs from the State Security Service and assume that the agency will operate more effectively. I am proud of our joint achievements and hope that these relations will further deepen and become more fruitful”-stated William Brownfield.
At the end of the meeting sides discussed future plans and projects to be implemented in the upcoming 2016. Minister of Internal Affairs invited American colleague to Georgia within the frames of the official visit.
