As a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions, the employees of Guria Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ozurgeti District Prosecutor's Office arrested 5 people connected to the "Thieves World" in Tbilisi, Ozurgeti and Lanchkhuti, based on the judge's ruling.
The following persons were detained for membership of the “Thieves Wolrd” – several times convicted in past, K.V. (DoB 1971) and also previously convicted G.K. (DoB 1975).
For supporting the activities of the “Thieves World” T.F. (DoB 1974) was detained.
Meanwhile, M.G. (DoB 1981) was arrested for the fact of appealing to the Member of the Thiefs World" as well as V.G. (DoB 1968).
The committed crimes envision up to 10 years in prison.
As a result of an intensive investigation, including covert investigative actions based on a judge's ruling, it was established that a financial dispute arose between V.G. and M.G. on issues related to construction. In order to resolve the dispute, the defendants turned to members of the "Thieves Wolrd" and criminal authorities: T.F., G.K. and K.V.
The persons connected with the "thieves' world" organized criminal discussions in accordance with the traditions of the “thieves law” the disputing party was ordered to pay 15,000 GEL within one month in favor of the other party, which was payed by M.G. within the stipulated time.
Half of the mentioned amount was distributed to the criminal authorities participating in settling the dispute.
As a result of personal search and search activities held in residential houses of the defendants, the police seized computer equipment, supposed narcotics, and mobile phones of the defendants as evidence through which they communicated with each other.
The criminal case is being investigated under the article 223 (1) part I, 223 (3) II part and the first part of article 223 (4) of the criminal law code of Georgia.
