Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nino Javakhadze and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Elizabeth Rood held a meeting with the members of the interagency council of the Joint Maritime Operations Center (JMOC) of the Executive Bodies of Georgia.
Head of the MIA Border Police of Georgia and Chairmen of the interagency council, Temur Kekelidze, US Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program Adviser, Monica Dorado, Deputy Director of Global Maritime Operational Threat Response Coordination Center (GMCC), Brian Wilson and Georgia Desk Officer at US Coast Guard International Affairs and Foreign Policy, Shewit Habtemicheal attended the meeting.
The sides discussed ongoing and upcoming projects and information sharing rules. The US delegation was impressed with the JMOC activity. Deputy Chief of Mission at US Embassy Elizabeth Rood noted that the Center was a vivid example of a close cooperation between the US and Georgia. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Nino Javakhadze expressed her gratitude towards the US Delegation for their contribution and support for JMOC and its future projects.
JMOC has been established with the assistance of US Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program. Interagency Council of JMOC is integrating the efforts of several ministries, bridging intelligence agencies and securing the country’s interests. The Council is being coordinated, administrated and provided with organizational-technical support by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
