The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia intensively and effectively cooperates with the law enforcement agencies of different countries. The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry in cooperation with their French colleagues detained citizens of Georgia, namely, eight members of the criminal gang operating in France were detained. The detainees are accused of criminal gang membership, robbery committed in group and storage of stolen items.
The investigation conducted by Georgian and French law enforcers established that from March, 2017 to nowadays, the Georgian members of criminal gangs have committed several facts of robbery in France. During the search of detainees' houses, mobile phones, portable computers, golden items, various drugs, Georgian and French bank cards and money were seized as material evidences. It is established that the members of the criminal group had connections with the s.c. ”thieves in law” detained in France, in November, 2017. By certain sum of money received as a result of selling stolen items the s.c. OBSHAK was filled. The investigation is in progress under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of France.
Cases solved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of operative and investigative activities conducted during the past week
The Ministry of Internal Affairs actively continues the fight against drug crime, over the past week, various kinds of drugs in large and especially large quantities have been seized in the whole territory of the country.
Several days ago, law enforcers detained in Tbilisi four citizens of the Republic of Iran, 1.5 kg of "heroin" and large amount of "methadone" was seized. The crime committed by them envisages from 8 to 20 years or life-term imprisonment. The investigation established that the offenders brought drugs from Iran to Georgia.
During the last week, 13 persons have been detained for drug crime, 6 individuals out of them are detained for drug realization, who used to sell drugs systematically. With the purpose of detection of illegal activities and detention of the offenders the special operations were conducted in Tbilisi, Ponichala, Gardabani and Marneuli.
As a result, more than 1.5 kg of "heroin", 81 pills of "MDMA", 50 plates of s.c. "Bio" and other types of drugs were seized.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs actively fights against the thieves 'world and during the last month 8 individuals were detained for connection with the thieves' world.
According to the legislative amendments developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which ensure more effective fight against the thieves' in law and membership of the thieves` world, the punishment shall be stricter and a number of actions shall be announced as punishable under the Criminal Code.
The law enforcers have control over all persons who may be involved in organized crime.
Information spread in media reports, as if a citizen of Georgia deported from Ukraine is a member of the thieves` world, is wrong! As a result of an interview with the law enforcers, he said that he is not a members of the s.c. thieves` world. This particular person has already left Georgia.
As a result of operative activities of the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs 5 facts of robbery were solved in Tbilisi, Samegrelo, Shida Kartli, Imereti and Guria. In addition, 1 fact of robbery in group and 1 fact of robbery preparation were solved in Imereti. In particular, as a result of operative response from law enforcement officers 3 members of the criminal group intending to invade the house and take illegal possession of money and jewelry were detained. The crime committed by them envisages imprisonment from 6 to 9 years in length.
During the personal search of the offenders and search of their vehicle the following items were seized: masks, shotgun, automatic firearms, cartridge-clip and cartridges of various types of firearms. The investigation is in progress on the fact of preparation of robbery and illegal purchase, storage and keeping of firearms.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs has solved the facts of robbery and 9 individuals were detained for theft, in particular, in Imereti - 2, in Adjara - 2 and in Shida Kartli - 5. In Imereti, police prevented one fact of robbery and detained 3 persons when they attempted to steal items from the house. In Tbilisi the law enforcers detained one person for robbery of a foreigner. Two persons detained for robbery in Adjara are accused in several facts of robbery committed in Batumi, Kobuleti and Khelvachauri.
The law enforcers detained two citizens of Armenia in Tbilisi on the fact of fraud. The detainees were selling gold bullions in the "Golden Market" located in the vicinity of the railway station. Police detained those individuals when they were selling various metal goods and 100 gr. gold bullions as if the items made of triple nine. The market value of one gold bullion amounted to more than 10 000 GEL. One fake gold bullion was seized as material evidence. The crime committed envisages imprisonment from 4 to 9 years in length.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues intensive fight against crime and each fact of crime will be followed by a strict legal response.
