Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with the Ambassador of Romania Radu Liviu.
At the meeting sides discussed the existing productive cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Romania which is being implemented on the basis of the concluded agreements.
During the official visit of Giorgi Mgebrishvili to Bucharest in 2016 the “Mutual declaration between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Ministry of Interior of Romania on Cooperation in the Field of European Aspirations” was signed which envisages sharing experience in implementation of EU standards in the law enforcement sphere and enhancing of the cooperation.
At the meeting Giorgi Mgebrishvili has made emphasis on sharing information and experience in the police sphere and the importance of enhancing cooperation against global challenges.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Ambassador of Romania have discussed prospects for future cooperation based on the agreement between Georgia and Europol on operative and strategic partnership. The mentioned agreement will be signed in April after enactment of which Georgia will become operative partner of Europol.
At the end of the meeting Minister of Internal Affairs has thanked the Ambassador of Romania for the contribution and support of Gergia in Euro-integration process of Georgia.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili has also invited Minister of Interior of Romania to visit Georgia within the frames of the official visit.
