Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili held meeting with the Ambassador of Latvia Ianis Zlamet.
At the meeting Ambassador of Latvia congratulated Minister of Internal Affairs with the results achieved in the field of visa liberalization and made special emphasis on the role of the Ministry in the implementation of the reforms envisaged by the VLAP.
Giorgi Mgebrishvili also thanked the Ambassador of Latvia for the contribution in Georgia’s Euro-integration process and support.
Minister of Internal Affairs and Ambassador of Latvia have discussed further enhancement of the existing close and productive cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of two countries.
Minister Mgebrishvili has pointed out the importance of sharing experience of the Latvian side in the process of implementing criminal police reform and analysis-based police activities.
Minister of Internal Affairs has discussed ongoing and scheduled projects, including high-tech and multi-functional Joint Operations Center. Giorgi Mgebrishvili also acquainted international projects scheduled by the MIA Academy within the frames of which joint trainings will be held along with neighbor countries’ law enforcement agencies which will contribute to elaborating the mutual approach in the field of the fight against crime and establishing important contacts with partner countries.
At the meeting Giorgi Mgebrishvili and Ambassador of Latvia have discussed the scheduled visit of the President of Latvia and Minister of Interior to Georgia.
