Ministry of Internal Affairs presented MIA strategy 2014 at “Radisson Blu Iveria” hotel. Presentation will be attended by Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze, other top brass of the Ministry, members of government and representatives from executive and legislative branches of government, diplomatic corps, international organizations and civil sector. MIA strategy was presented by Reforms and Development Agency Director Irakli Beraia.
According to the document, within the recent reforms held in the country, the process of reforming the Ministry of Internal Affairs and policy of de-politicization will continue. Special attention will be paid to human rights protection, level of transparency and accountability, improving public relations mechanisms, high standards of personal data protection will be introduced as well as gender balance and legislative initiatives.
Priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs include: ensuring public order and road safety, improving level of operation at Temporary Detention Isolators, refining border safety, effective management of migration and emergency situations as well as reforming the emergency management sphere, development of chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear policy, fight against illegal circulation of drugs and the issue of drug addiction, terrorism, corruption, trafficking and cybercrime.
It is equally important for the Ministry to improve the quality of service, capacity building of MIA Police Academy and strengthening of international co-operation.
