The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri visited the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey. Vakhtang Gomelauri personally expressed his condolences to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia - Ali Kaan Orbai due to the tragedy that occurred as a result of the earthquake in the Republic of Turkey.
The Minister of Internal Affairs commented on the tragedy at the Turkish Embassy and once again expressed his condolences to the Turkish people.
"First of all, I want to express my deep sorrow and condole our friends, our brothers and sisters - the Turkish people, the Turkish government. This is a huge tragedy. That very morning, we received an order from Mr. Prime Minister, our rescuers were mobilized, 60 people were sent with their equipment. In Turkey, on the second day, another 40 people were added, and today there are 100 of our rescuers working on the ground. Fortunately, 3 people were rescued and taken alive from the ruins, while 21 were dead. They are still working. We will be by their side until the end as long as our help is needed." Vakhtang Gomelauri said.
The Minister of Internal Affairs left a note in the condolence book opened at the embassy.
"On behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and on my own behalf, please accept my heartfelt condolences due to the terrible tragedy that happened. I would like to express my support to the families and relatives of the deceased. In this time of sorrow, we stand by our friend Turkish people," wrote Vakhtang Gomelauri.
