Representatives of various Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Elections Administration participated in two-day training on the issues of elections security organized by the Central Elections Commission (CEC).
The training was opened by Ms. Tamar Zhvania, Chairman of the Central Elections Commission (CEC) and Mr. Nerman Nisich, the Project Manager of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). The Elections Administration organized the training “Elections and Security” in collaboration with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Training participants discussed the issues of conflicts solution in the light of elections as well as the issues related to providing protection. The training was conducted by Mr. Vasu Mohani, the Director of the Asia-Pacific Region of the IFES. From 2001 he leads various projects of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and is a leading expert in elections security issues.
The representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participating in the training will share the knowledge to their colleagues in order to ensure safe environment for the upcoming elections.
