With the support of the organization “PH International Georgia” an expert from the United States of America held a training titled “Community Policing in practice”. The participants were the employees of the fifth Unit of Old Tbilisi Division of MIA Tbilisi Police Department. The purpose of the four-day training was to provide the participants with theoretical knowledge on community policing. Community policing is a model of policing which is predominant in developed Western countries and aims at deepening partnership between the police and communities, reducing crime and increasing perception of safety in public through preventative measures. The training was financed by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).
At the end of the training the participants were awarded certificates of participation.
