The officers of Akhmeta Regional Division of Kakheti police department along with Duisi police station as a result of the jointly held operative-investigative activities detained previously convicted Shmagi K. (DoB 1981).
Investigation established that late at night detainee made several shots from unregistered automatic weapon in Sakobiano village. Shmagi K. did not obey to the legal demand of the policemen, who arrived at the place, however he was disarmed by the officers. In the moment of detention Shmagi K. attacked the police vehicle and smashed the rear window.
During the personal search of the detainee law enforcers seized unregistered AKC 74 automatic weapon, 2 cartridges and 35 bullets, while from his house policemen seized 16 bullets. Testing revealed that detainee was under the influence of the alcohol, while the drug test showed that he was also under the influence of marijuana. Detainee has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and illegal purchase/keeping of drugs and attack on police officers, article 236, I and II parts, article 260 I part and article 353 (1) I part envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
