Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia awarded the winners of the essays and drawings competition organized within the frames of the MIA road safety social campaign “For Your Sake, For Your Safety” with gifts and the Certificates of Appreciations.
Competition on the topic “Let’s Follow Traffic Rules for Each Other Sake” was organized in almost all schools throughout the country in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili thanked the school pupils for their active involvement in the project. "Do you know why the competition was for me especially important? Because hundreds of children began to think about the significance of the road safety and it is a great victory for me and for my agency. Crime prevention, formation of a healthy civil society is directly related to the proper education of children and young people. With this purpose we are implementing many projects. Soon in Georgia the children will have the “Safe Village”, where they will share the basic principles of safety in the language understandable to them, with entertaining and educational methods. Thank you all for being with us to take another step towards the road safety”.
The specially selected jury members revealed and awarded 9 winners and 21 best works authors among up to 500 essays and drawings submitted by the pupils at a final stage. The competition participant author of the scale model was also awarded.

The jury consisted of: Mr. Archil Talakvadze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs; Mrs. Thea Pertaia, Head of the Public Relations of the MIA; Ms. Pikria Mikaberidze, chief specialist of the Policy and Programs Division of the General Education Management and Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science, Ms. Ia Vakhtangishvili, the chief specialist of the same Division; Mr. Shalva Obgaidze, the City Council member, President of the Georgian Automobile Federation; Mr. Davit Meskhishvili, the Chairman of the “Transport and Roads Association”; Mr. Eka Laliashvili, the head of the “Georgian Alliance for Safe Roads”, nongovernmental organization; Mr. Giorgi Kekelidze, writer and Director of the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia; Mrs. Rusudan Petviashvili, the artists, Mr. Guga Tevdoradze, the artist and Mrs. Nana Chachua, the psychologist.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia launched a long-term large-scale social campaign for road safety in 2015. The campaign aims to prevent accidents and to raise public awareness of road safety.
