Rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Agency brought the pupils from Rustavi N11 public school from Shatili to Tbilisi with the helicopted of the Border Police. Due to the difficult relief and bad weather, 15 children on excursion could not return to Khevsureti together with 2 teachers and 2 parents.
The helicopter of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will conduct several flights to Shatili today and bring the rest of the tourists and the population to the safe place.
In parallel, rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue rescue operation of 5 foreign tourists in the Shatili gorge, Dusheti municipality.
The Dusheti Fire-Rescue Team managed to establish communication with citizens of foreign countries. Rescuers located their whereabouts and exact coordinates.
Due to the bad weather and rise of the level of the river, traffic movement in nearby areas is impossible and the rescue operation is conducted on foot.
Along with the employees of the Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the MIA Border Police helicopter was involved in the rescue operation soon after the climatic conditions were improved.
At this moment, joint efforts are being taken on the territory adjacent to Shatili.
