Major General Gennaro Vecchione, Head of the Command Centre for the Special Units of the Italian law enforcement agency Guardia di Finanza, State Police General Giovanni Busacca, Director of the Netuno Instructors Institute and their accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The guests were hosted by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili. The parties discussed the issues regarding the development of cooperation in the field of education between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili introduced the MIA Academy project on Regional Training Center to the guests. As mentioned at the meeting, within the framework of this project, the MIA Academy of Georgia is to host international training on transnationalism for representatives of law enforcement agencies of Eastern Partnership countries.
The parties agreed to implement exchange programs for representatives of law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Italy, which will facilitate sharing experience in the fight against organized crime, as well as preventing crime and training highly qualified staff.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation members met with Mr. Givi Mikanadze, the Rector of the MIA Academy, as well as heads of various structural units of the Ministry. The Italian guests visited the Joint Operation Center, the MIA Academy, Criminal Police Department and 112 center, and got acquainted with the peculiarities of their work.
