We would like to inform the society about the response of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia to the alleged cases of crime related to the elections. On November 28-29, 2018 the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched investigation on 24 facts of alleged crime, among them:
On 13 alleged facts of physical abuse:
- Under Paragraph 1 of the Article 1621 of CCG (violence in the building where the ballot took place or on the territory, adjacent to the building) – 8 facts;
- Under Paragraph 1 of the Article 126 of CCG (violence) – 4 facts;
- Under Paragraph 2 of the Article 239 of CCG (hooliganism) – 1 fact;
On 5 facts of alleged non-violent act/crime:
- Under Article 163 and Paragraph 1 of the Article 160 and of CCG (interference with the work of electoral commission; violation of inviolability of property)- 1 fact;
- Under Article 164 of CCG (breach of secrecy of the ballot)-1 fact;
- Under Article 164 of CCG (multiple voting)- 1 fact;
- Under Paragraph 3 of the Article 236 of CCG (illegal purchase and storage of firearm)- 2 facts;
On 6 facts of alleged crime against property:
- Under Article 177 of CCG (theft)- 2 facts;
- Under Article 187 of CCG (damage of property)- 4 facts;
