The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Adjara, Samegrelo and Kakheti in the last two weeks to prevent crime. 11 individuals have been detained for illegal purchase-keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
Three pistols of "Makarov" system, 2 automatic firearms of “Kalashnikov” system, 3 pistols of “Beretta” system, 2 pistols of CZ” model, 2 carbines of “Mosin” type, a „GOLD-STAR-2002“ model pistol, 13 chargers, 200 cartridges for different types of arms and 1 bullet-proof vest were seized during the personal search and the search of the houses and vehicles of the detainees.
In addition, the civilians are actively engaged in volunteering of submission of different types of weapons and ammunition to the police.
Two citizens in Samtskhe-Javakheti voluntarily submitted a cut hunting shot gun, a pistol, a charger, 316 cartridges for different types of firearms, 4 hand grenades and five cases of grenades.
Both citizens are released from criminal liability according to the Criminal Procedure Code of Georgia.
