The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia celebrated Policeman’s Day with festive events in Kutaisi. The event was attended by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili, Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vakhtang Gomelauri, members of Parliament and Government of Georgia, representatives of Diplomatic Corps and official delegations from partner countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Armenia, Belarus, Turkey and Moldova. The event was opened with the minute of silence. The guests paid tribute to the policemen fallen in the line of duty.
The Prime Minister of Georgia addressed police officers and congratulated them on the professional day. President Margvelashvili congratulated the employees of the MIA on professional day and wished them success. “It is important to implement activities for crime prevention rather than making response afterwards. Confidence and close relation with public is one of the key factors the police should establish. I believe that this tendency will continue and deepen. I have a solid foundation to think this way, because the Police in Georgia have very good and professional Interior Minister. I would like to congratulate him on this day. When the campaign was launched against the Police, Minister Gomelauri managed to put everything in its place thanks to his professionalism and right political approach to police activities. I would like to express special gratitude to him for such an effective work.”- stated President Margvelashvili.
Prime Minister, President and Minister of Interior Affairs of Georgia noted the great contribution to the professional work of the fallen policemen in the line of duty and paid tribute to the deceased police officers.
The Minister of Internal Affairs awarded police officers Beka Margishvili and Giorgi Beruashvili fallen in the line of duty with the medals of first degree for “exceptional merits”. The Minister handed over the medals to the family members of the fallen police officers. Medals for “Courage” were handed to the wounded police officers Valerian Grdzelishvili and Giorgi Makharashvili. The Minister personally awarded with the medal for “Courage” Deputy Head Kobuleti regional unit of Achara Regional Main Division– head of detective section, police major David Papava and head of Inspectors division- investigator police major Irakli Shakarishvili. The mentioned employees of MIA took part in the evacuation process from hotel “Armazi” in Kobuleti during fire. The medal for “Courage” was also handed to deputy head of 2nd section of Isani-Samgori unit of Tbilisi Main Division, Lieutenant Vazha Siradze. Minister Gomelauri awarded patrol-inspector of Guria Regional Main Division Police Major Khatuna Doborjhinidze with a Badge for “20 years of impeccable service”.
Badge for “10 years of Impeccable service” was handed to head of section of Special Unit on CBRN Incidents Response division, police Major Malkhaz Lagurashvili; Senior specialist N1 border security division of coastal border security department, police major Giorgi Iremadze; head of the sub-unit of the first division of Operations Management 1st division under the Coast Guard Department of Border police lieutenant Rozeta Kukava; the head of intelligence and security special and emergency situations center G-2 headquarter, vice- colonel Zurab Abramishvili and inspector of Personnel and Organizational maintenance Department of Security Police, police Major Zviad Phirtskhalaishvili. “Certificates of Appreciation” were handed to: deputy head of professional training division of Academy of MIA, Police lieutenant Koba Grialashvili; “112” operative response center specialist, private Natalia Lomtidze and to head of the sub-unit of the rapid response 2nd platoon of the third division under Special and Emergency Measures Center, police junior lieutenant Beka Gotiashvili.
President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili handed “Medal for Honor” to Vice Rector of MIA Academy Sopio Kiladze, , subway division patrol-inspector of Tbilisi Main Division of the Patrol Police Deparatment Teona Tchitchinadze.
Upon the end of the official events, Prime-Minister, President and Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia visited the exhibition organized by various Units of MIA where the visitors were given the opportunity to see the fleet, equipment, armament and various types of technique. New “Ford Interseptor”, Mini cooper”, “Pick-up”, motorcycle “IAMAHA”, electro mobile “IAMAHA”, minibus “Hunday”; Combat vehicles: “Kobra”, Lendrover Defender”, “Wolf”, various types of firearms; Security Police fleet: armored vehicles, operative car for aviation security division “Kia Optima”, operative response car “Shkoda Oktavia”, car for technical service “Renault Dokervan”, electro mobile and protected house model; Helicopter for Border Police, quadrocycles, communications vehicle, technical devices, uniforms and equipment for Border security, banners depicting newly-constructed border sectors; old devices for security – 1960-80’s video-audio recording devices and vehicles with installed communication means and systems for detecting radioation.
Emergency Situations Management Agency of MIA presented firefighting truck “Mercedes”, snowmobile “Polartis”, rescue vehicle “Ford”, ambulance car “Mercedes”, scouter, decontamination tent and equipment.
Expert-forensic Main Division displayed its fleet, mobile lab, RN expertise devices and equipment.
New 3D tasks from theoretical part of the driving test, historic banners depicting first car, car accident and driving licenses in Georgia. The visitors of the exhibition were also given the opportunity to see driving license printing machine, MIA’s Sport Club “MIA FORCE” racing cars and an exam car.
“112” Center presented advertisements and information flyers of a new service specially elaborated for people with hearing disabilities enabling them to connect the Center with the help of Video call and short massages. GPS service and alarm signal simulation show was held especially for the visitors. Visitors of the event were given the opportunity to observe the process how the alarm signal reaches “112: via GPS tracker, depiction of alarm on the map and how the operator of the center fixes the signal.
It’s worth noting, that MIA Academy presented so called virtual shooting range which offered the visitors a chance to shoot according to various scenarios with the help of Firearms training Specialist. Historic uniforms of police officers, firearms and cold steel, as well as magazines and books published by MIA achieve were displayed on the exhibition.
The exhibition was open for everyone during the day.
