One of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is active fight against purchase, keeping and realization of drugs.
The officers of Main Division Combating Illegal Circulation of Drugs of the Central Criminal Police Department as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities simultaneously held in Marneuli and Ponichala on the ground of judge’s decision detained 7 drug dealers. The detained individuals are: F. N. (DoB: 1967), I.M. (DoB: 1976), E.I. (DoB: 1984), E.I. (DoB: 1983), I.Ts. (DoB: 1975), A.I. (DoB: 1991) and R.A. (DoB: 1990).
The crime envisages the imprisonment from 8 to 20 years or life-term imprisonment.
The investigation established that the offenders sold drugs regularly. Police seized drugs sold by them as material evidences.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, storage and selling of drugs in particularly large quantities under the Article 260, IV and VI parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
Also, I would like to inform you that law enforcement officers carried out intensive operative measures for three months in order to detain a citizen of Turkey – J.E. During this period several investigative activities were conducted, which resulted in the detention of J.E. for drug crime in Tbilisi. 393 pills of “Ecstasy” containing synthetic drug "MDMA" was seized as material evidence. The investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in particularly large quantities under the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia
Also, in the vicinity of Tbilisi International Airport the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained a citizen of Georgia and France V.V. (DoB: 1980), 12 pills of drug "Subotex" and 4 capsules of "Methadone" were seized.
In the last 4 months the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of operative-searching activities conducted at different time throughout the country seized from illegal circulation an especially large amount of drugs, in particular: 8 kg of heroin, more than 1 kg of cocaine, 318 gr of new psychoactive and psychotropic substances, including 3 456 pills containing buprenorphine, 1,5 kg of synthetic drug “MDMA” and 650 gr of different types of psychotropic substances.
The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue uncompromising fight and work in non-stop regime in order to prevent and timely detect drug crime.
