The officers of Imereti, Rach-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department along with the officers of Imereti Regional Division of the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a result of jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities for extortion and violence detained in Zestaponi previously multiple convicted for grave crime two members of a criminal group – G.G. (DoB: 1980) and B.M. (DoB: 1982). The crime committed envisages imprisonment from 4 to 7 years in length.
The investigation established that last year the offenders along with N.K. (DoB: 1984), the member of the criminal group, currently accused of thieves` world membership, beat with a truncheon the citizen of Zestaponi. Threatening his life and shooting-out, they illegally extorted 15,000 US dollars from the mentioned citizen. The law enforcers detained N.K. in the current year for the membership of the thieves` world.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of extortion and violence (Articles 181 and 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
