The officers of Tbilisi Police Department and Kvemo Kartli Police Department as a result of jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities detained V.B (DoB: 1972) for premeditated murder.
In 2015, V.B. was found guilty under the Articles 1171 and 276 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which implies intentional serious damage to health and violation of traffic safety rules. V.B. was pardoned by the president and his sentence was reduced by half, he left the prison on May 25, 2017.
The investigation established that on April 13 of the current year in Barnov Street, Vake, V.B. deadly wounded with a knife T.G. (DoB: 1993), the daughter of his former wife and managed to escape from the crime scene. T.G. died on the spot.
As a result of operative-searching activities the law enforcers detained V.B. on the following day in Teleti.
The weapon of the crime – knife – was seized by the police and relevant expertise will be conducted.
The investigation also established that several hours before the murder, the murdered T.G. and her mother were in the police station and requested the police to issue restraining order; the request was followed by the relevant response from the police. Due to private affair, T.G. left the police station alone, earlier than her mother.
The police received the report regarding the murder case immediately after the restraining order was issued. The law enforcers arrived at the crime scene, but T.G. was already dead.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to pursue strict criminal law policy on domestic violence and violence against women. Over the past three months, the Ministry has arrested more than 800 individuals on domestic violence and issued more than 1400 restraining orders. The fight against domestic violence and violence against women is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In this direction, the Ministry will continue to carry out strict policy on each fact of violence, but effective implementation of this policy will be impossible if the strict policy will not be implemented by all relevant state agencies.
