The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department and the Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 9 people in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Zestaponi as a result of complex operative-investigative activities carried out together with the General Prosecutor's Office.
V.E. (Nicknamed "Tava"DoB 1981), D.K., (DoB 1980), Z.M., (DoB 1977, Nicknamed "Zalua"), V.M., (DoB 1970), L.B. (DoB 1971), A.C. (DoB 1990), L.M., (DoB 1973) and G.B. (DoB 1967); The mentioned persons are accused of membership of the "Thieves' World", supporting the activities of the "Thieves' World", and appealing to a member of the "Thieves' World". A J. (DoB 1980) was also detained for illegal purchase and storage of firearms.
The investigation established that the members of the "thieves' world" - A.C., L.M. And Z.M., in order to resolve the financial dispute between the business partners, contacted the Georgian "thief in law" residing abroad - L.Ch., who was involved in the "criminal skirmish" and obliged one of the businessmen - L. B. to pay $ 10,000 in favor of the second business partner within a certain period of time.
For the final resolution of the the financial dispute between the parties, members of the "thieves' world" have repeatedly organized "thieves gathering" and criminal skirmish in which the Georgian "thief in law" abroad, I.Kh. was involved. The defendants systematically contacted each other and actively discussed the financial dispute between the parties.
During the ongoing investigation, the police seized 2 firearms as evidence during the search activities held in the house of another detainee- A.J.
As a result of the search activities, the law enforcers seized computer equipment and mobile phones owned by the accused persons, through which they communicated with each other and "thieves in law" residing abroad.
The committed crime envisions from 7 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Investigation into the facts of membership of the "Thieves' World", being a “Thief in Law”, appealing to a member of the "Thieves' World" and supporting the activities of the "Thieves' World", is in progress under articles 223(1) parts I and II, article 223 (3) part II, article 223(4) part I and illegal purchase and storage of firearms- article 236 envisioned under the Criminal Code of Georgia.
