Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia, Ms. Sabine Machl.
Minister, Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri emphasized the importance of human rights protection in parallel with fulfilling police activities and provided information about extended competences of the Department of Human Rights Protection and Quality Monitoring.
At the same time, the Minister of Internal Affairs underlined the significance of prevention, preparedness and prompt response to emergencies, and emphasized the role of the Emergency Situations Management Service in this regard. Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri informed Ms. Sabine Machl about the progress achieved so far and about current challenges.
Minister expressed gratitude to the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Georgia for cooperation in the field of emergency situations management.
Within the framework of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to proceed productive cooperation in the future.
