The Coast Guard Department of the Border Police under the Ministry of Internal Affairs is hosting Royal Navy vessel of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Georgian territorial waters. The delegation from the United Kingdom is headed by the vessel Commander, Giles Palin. At Batumi port, guests were met by the Director of the Coast Guard Department, CAPT – Ramaz Papidze, the acting Major of Batumi – Archil Chikovani and UK Defense attache to Georgia, Vice Colonel – Anthony Brumwell.
The purpose of the visit is to demonstrate and enhance the close cooperation existing between the two countries in the field of defense and security.
Within the framework of the visit, second phase evaluation of NATO certification program (SEL-2) for boarding teams of Georgian Coast Guard Department will be held onboard of UK Royal vessel.
"HMS DRAGON" vessel is a modern type of air-defense destroyer. This is the first visit of the ship to the territorial waters of Georgia.
UK Royal navy ship will leave Batumi Port on October 18.
