Early in the morning today officers of the Patrol Police have foiled the armed assault on the bank on Bazaleti Street, district Vake Tbilisi.
Person in mask who was armed with a pistol demanded to open the door of “Bank of Georgia” branch. Bank employees did not open the door to the offender which was followed by attack and shooting.
Patrol crews N209, N210 and N213 have made quick response on the incident. Offender opened fire to the police officers who arrived at the place which was followed by the persecution and exchange fire. Offender who was moving towards Gegeshidze Park was detained by Patrol Police officers. The firearm was seized by the law enforcers as well as mask and other evidences.
Investigation is conducted by the First unit of Vake-Sburtalo police division under the article 179, 236 and 353 of the Criminal Code.
At this moment it is being established that detainee was linked with other facts of bank robberies
