Employees of Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service under the Ministry of Finance, as a result of joint operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 4 foreign citizens on charges of illegally crossing the state border of Georgia, attempting to cross it, organizing the illegal transfer of migrants to the border, and using forged documents.
The committed crimes envision up to 8 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the citizen of the Republic of Turkey - A.D. (DoB 1982) with the truck under his control, as well as the citizens of the Republic of Turkey: I.O. (DoB 1993) and K. H. (DoB 1999) bypassed the border checkpoint "Sarfi" and tried to illegally bring them to the territory of Georgia. The police arrested all three of them in the nearby territory of the border checkpoint.
Employees of the Patrol Police Department arrested another citizen of the Republic of Turkey - D.-I. (DoB 1990) at Davit Agmashenebeli International Airport in Kutaisi when he was trying to leave Georgia using a fake passport.
The investigation is being conducted under articles 19-344, 344, 24-344 and 362 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
