The employees of Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex operative measures and investigative actions, detained Z.I. (DoB 2002) and R.B. (DoB 2002). They were arrested on charges of extortion committed in group, assisting in extortion, and group damage to other’s property per personal financial gain.
Committed crime envisions up to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the defendants contacted the citizens at different times, based on the instructions of the criminal authorities living abroad, and demanded a large amount of money, threatening with liquidation, as well as destroy the property, and after rejection, damaged various types of property of the citizens.
As a result of an intensive investigation, including secret investigative actions based on the judge's ruling, law enforcement officers detained Z.I. and R.B.
As evidence, the law enforcement officers seized mobile phones and SIM cards, through which the defendants used to contact citizens to extort money.
The incident is being investigated under Articles 181, 25 - 181 and 187 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
