The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the recent held complex operative-investigative and investigative activities, seized illegal firearms as well as ammunition in Tbilisi and different regions. 9 persons were detained: D.B. (DoB 2001), G.O. (DoB1979), Z.S. (DoB 1963), B.T. (DoB 1985), I.S. (DoB 1983), R.G. (DoB 1984), O.D. (DoB1957), I.M (DoB1995) and I.M. (DoB 1986);
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department arrested a former convict and currently on probation - D.B. in Tbilisi. During the personal search of the detainee policemen seized and illegal firearm, while as a result of search activities held in G.O’s residential house, law enforcers seized Kalashnikov automatic firearm, a magazine and 47 cartridges.
Z.S., B.T. and I.S. were detained by the officers of Gori District Division of Shida Kartli Police Department. The investigation established that Z.S. had illegally sold "Glock" and "Beretta" system pistols to acquaintances - I.S. and B.T. Law enforcers stopped and arrested B.T. and I.S. when they were driving in Tbilisi. As a result of the search of the mentioned vehicle, police seized the illegal "Glock" and "Beretta" pistols as evidence.
The officers of Khelvachauri District Division of Adjara Police Department seized various types of tools and 42 cartridges as a result of the search activities held in O.D’s house on the basis of the relevant court decision. As a result of the search activities held in R.G’s house, police seized “VOLTRAN BLOW Magnum Mod.2000“ firearm and a magazine as evidence.
The officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department seized “Nagan” firearm and 6 cartridges in Terjola as a result of a personal search of I.M. and search activities held in his vehicle.
As a result of a personal search and search activities held in I.M.’s vehicle the officers of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department seized a shotgun and 6 cartridges.
The offenses envision from 3 to 9 years of imprisonment.
Investigation is underway under the III, IV, and V parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia which stipulates the illegal purchase-storage-carrying and selling of firearms and ammunition.
