Briefing of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Vladimer Bortsvadze
As a result of the investigative activities, Officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, detained additionally 11 members of the criminal group including minors’ parents and teacher, accused of child trafficking and illegal making and sale of the pornographic works containing their images.
The crime committed entails the imprisonment from 17 to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Investigation revealed that the detainees involved their under-aged children in production of pornographic materials. In return for a payment, children were brought by their parents to the conspiratorially arranged photo salon in Tbilisi possessed by the citizen of the United States where pornographic photo-video materials were produced for further distribution abroad.
Besides, minors’ school teacher was detained for being actively involved in the minor’s selection process and assisting the citizen of the United States in illegal activities, who was detained in September this year.
On the same case, in September this year, as a result of jointly conducted intensive investigative activities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Prosecutor Office, EUROPOL and employees of the law enforcement agencies of the United States and Australia, revealed organized network making pornographic works. In September, on the first stage, law enforcers detained 11 members of this network. For committing given crime in total, 22 persons were detained.
In order to protect the rights of the affected minors, the relevant psychological-social measures are being taken.
Investigation is being conducting under Articles 255(3), 1432(2)(b), 1432(3)(c) and 1432(4)(a) that implies knowingly making or selling of pornographic work containing images of minors, as well as trafficking of two or more minors committed by an organized group.
