Project: Strengthening of the Georgian Border Police capacities for green and sea border surveillance

Project Aim: to strengthen the capacities of the Georgian Border Police (GBP) for green and sea border surveillance. To support Georgian law enforcement in gradual transition from the former U.S.S.R. helicopter platforms to the EU-made helicopter platforms. The GBP Aviation Unit’s capacities, knowledge and skills will be enhanced via a series of training. The State Border Guard of Latvia will train GBP staff on operation and maintenance of the new type of helicopter and at the end of the project donate one Agusta Bell 206B Jetranger III type helicopter. In addition, the project will contribute to creating the necessary preconditions for greater alignment with the EU’s acquis in the area of Integrated Border Management.
