The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, participated in the opening event of a new project – “Strengthening Operational and Tactical Interdiction Capabilities of Border Police of Georgia (SOTIC)” - funded by the U.S. Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program.
During his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Minister underscored the imperative for the continuous development of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the area of border management. He emphasized the significance of the long-term support provided by the U.S. Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program and International Organization for Migration (IOM) towards state border security and expressed gratitude for their productive cooperation over the years.
The event was held within the framework of the trainings organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Alongside the Deputy Minister, the U.S. Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program Advisor - Karen Chaisson, and the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Georgia - Sanja Celebic Lukovac also attended the opening ceremony.
The aforementioned project is implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The primary objective of the project is to enhance the capabilities of the Ministry in the area of border management.
