Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia - Aleksandre Darakhvelidze participated in the closing ceremony of the “Support in Establishment of Comprehensive Road Safety Database and Further Improvement of Road Safety Management (EU Twinning) “project.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze emphasized the importance of road safety for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and expressed gratitude to the EU delegation for project assistance and fruitful collaboration in Georgia.
The Deputy Minister summarized the project's outcomes, discussed the significance of establishing a traffic safety analysis unit within the ministry, and highlighted that the newly formed unit is aimed to layout further preventive measures in response to threats and risks of road safety, as well as to thoroughly analyze the causes of traffic accidents.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy of Poland - Konrad Wojnarowski, Ambassador of Poland to Georgia - Mariusz Mashkevich, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia - Guram Guramishvili and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia – Teimuraz Janjalia.
At the end of the meeting, Alekandre Darakhvelidze thanked the project team and its beneficiaries for their productive collaboration and congratulated them on the successful completion of the project.
“Support in Establishment of Comprehensive Road Safety Database and Further Improvement of Road Safety Management (EU Twinning)” project was implemented in close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other state agencies from 2022. The project's purpose was to develop the capacities of Georgia's national road safety agencies, as well as enhance the traffic accident registration system. The project included trainings and study visits adapted to the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during which employees became acquainted with the international methodology used for case analysis.
