The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the U.S. Department of Justice, with the financial support of the The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) provided the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with modern equipment to fight against illicit circulation of drugs.
The Director of the Criminal Police Department - Mamuka Chelidze opened the equipment handover ceremony. Mamuka Chelidze expressed his gratitude to Sarah Rupert - the Director of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and Jennifer Sweeder - Country Attache of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for their contribution to capacity building of the Ministry and emphasized the importance of future cooperation.
The technical equipment donated to the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be used in the fight against illegal circulation of drugs and will help the investigators in detecting, suppressing and preventing the spread of narcotic substances.
The U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) implements various law enforcement projects and cooperates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia in areas such as fight against cybercrime, development of K9, domestic violence and trafficking, juvenile crime prevention, etc.
