Expert in forest fires and civil security- Dieter Pilat visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The expert was hosted by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Merab Malania
At the meeting sides discussed the ways to further develop and enhance capacities of the Emergency Situations management Agency.
Within the frames of the visit, experts from the EU also met the director of Emergency Situations management Agency Nikoloz Siradze. Guest viewed regional units of the Emergency Situations management Agency and received detailed information on their activities.
EU expert also visited the area burned by the fire in Borjomi gorge and got familiarized with the recent situation.
The aim of the visit was to assess the needs of the Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, organizational arrangement, legislative base, material-technical equipment, qualification of firemen and rescuers as well as human resources management.
Recommendations of the EU expert will help Emergency Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in unification process as well as in elaboration of new plan of modernization, standardization and in the concept of development.
The visit of the Forest Fire and Civil Security Expert was carried out with the support of the European Union-funded Association Implementation Project.
