MIA Border Police of Georgia made an official report about the implemented projects 2014-2016
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Head of MIA Border Police of Georgia, Major-General Zurab Gamezardashvili made an official report about the implemented, ongoing and upcoming projects of the Border Agency in 2014-2016.
As it was noted at the presentation the Border Police had constructed 10 new border sectors in past 2 years, and with the financial assistance provided by the United States and European Union 7 more are to be built before the end of the year.
The Border Sectors “Kasumlo” and “Keda” are being constructed with the support of the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). The Georgian-Armenian segment of the State Border will be equipped with observation, surveillance and monitoring technical means, night vision and thermal cameras. Border sectors will be provided with watch towers and transportation means.
Financed by the United States Government, the Coast Guard Batumi Boat Basin has been constructed with a focus on enhancing coast guard capacities and maritime safety of the country
Construction of an administration building of the K-9 Service of the MIA Border Police of Georgia has been initiated. The modernized K9 service will be provided with new cages and operation rooms.
Joint Maritime Operations Center has been established under the Coast Guard Department of the MIA Border Police of Georgia with an aim to improve the capability of the national agencies to secure the Georgia’s maritime safety.
20 off-road vehicles, 6 snowmobiles, 4 tractors, and 43 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) have been handed over to the Border Police of Georgia.
A few days ago the U.S. Coast Guard handed over two Island Class 110 ft Patrol Boats to the Coast Guard Department of the MIA Border Police of Georgia.
At the presentation the guest were able to view cars, ATVs, tractors, snowmobiles, night-vision and thermal cameras, personal radiation detectors, radio-communication means, binoculars and other equipment of the MIA Border Police of Georgia.
