On April 24-25 general assembly session of International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) was held in Geneva. The session was attended by representatives of foreign emergency services, where Georgia was elected as member of ICDO executive council thus enabling rescuers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to participate in activities of the executive council scheduled for 2014-2018.
Director of Emergency Situations Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia was conferred a title of “civil protection knight” by ICDO and awarded with ICDO medal. Emergency Situations Management Center received part of humanitarian cargo from ICDO which consists of rescue equipment and technical appliances.
Within the frames of the meeting held in Geneva, Zviad katsashvili held meeting with representatives of foreign emergency services. At the meeting the agreement was reached on concluding memorandum of understanding between Georgia and other countries in the field of emergencies.
According to the decision of ICDO large scale trainings will be held in Georgia under the organization of International Civil Defense Organization.
