Firemen and rescuers of Emergency Situations Management Agency continue to pump out water from the houses in Guria, flooded as a result of heavy rains. Firemen and rescuers are mobilized on the ground, who have been conducting rescue operation in round the clock regime for the residents of Chokhatauri, lanchkhuti and Ozurgeti regions.
Heavy rains caused problems to residents of Imereti region as well. At this moment Emergency Response Center “112” received up to 300 calls. Basements, yards, educational and medical facilities have been flooded as a result of raining. Due to the heavy raining, first floors of N32 and N35 public schools have been flooded as well as their basements. Rescuers of Emergency Situations management Agency evacuated pupils and teachers of both schools on time.
As a result of heavy rains the level of river Oghaskura has risen and flooded the western part of Kutaisi, including nearby territory of the Parliament building. Rescue teams are at the place to conduct water pumping activities.
Firefighters and rescuers also assisted two maternity hospitals located in Kutaisi. The fire-rescue teams have been carrying out water pumping works in 4 hospitals, where the floors and basements of the buildings are flooded.
MIA Emergency Situations Management Agency continues to operate in the emergency mode.
