Five-day training course was held at MIA Academy on the issues connected with Media Relations and Social Media.
Representatives of various MIA departments and Public Relations Units of various MIA agencies and State Security Service took part in the course. The training was held under the organization of the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The training was led by Bill Grogan -chief of police department of Dunwoody town, Georgia, United States and specialist in public relations- Tim Burrows.
Training was aimed at sharing experience on established rules and standards of communication in the United States in terms of public and social media relations. The following topics were discussed at the training: how to use social media in order to deliver relevant messages to the society; benefits of using social media and results of cooperating with media. At the training experience of various US police Departments in public relations were discussed as well as activities conducted in the mentioned field by the relevant services of the Ministry of Interior of Georgia.
Similar training for the MIA representatives was held for the second time. After the completion of the course training participants received relevant certificates.
