The officers of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Main Division as a result of operative-investigative and searching activities detained Roman A. (DoB 1984 previously convicted for armed robbery and drug crime),) in Lia village on the charges of armed robbery.
Investigation established that in evening hours of March 20, Roman A. along with accompanying persons assaulted family of Teimuraz T. with a firearm residing in Chkhoria village. Under the pressure of the firearm offenders appropriated family belongings, jewelry and left the crime scene.
During the personal search of the detainee, law enforcers seized pocket watch, while as a result of the searching activities held in Roman A’s house, part of illegally appropriated items were seized as well as the weapon of crime, as evidence. Policemen also detected jewelry from the pawn shop located in Poti. Detainee has already pleaded guilty.
At this moment operative-investigative activities are held in order to identify and detain other persons involved in the crime.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of armed robbery committed by the group, article 179, II part, sub-paragraph “B” of the Criminal Code.
