Incident occurred late at night on April 6 at Rikoti pass, near Khunevi village. The truck overturned at the sharp turn which was carrying a large amount of liquid oxygen. At the place of incident team of firefighters and rescuers of Imereti division as well as patrol police and Chemical, radiological and biological incident response unit of the Emergency Situations Management Agency arrived.
For safety reasons, firefighter-rescuers carried out the evacuation of the population. Patrol Police blocked the road at Rikoti pass.
After few hours of operation the tank full of liquid oxygen was neutralized thus explosion of the tank was prevented. As a result of the operation no one was injured.
