The officers of Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained previously convicted Givi G. (DoB 1986) for assaulting a policeman.
Patrol-Inspector, police Captain Mamuka Mgaloblishvili was fulfilling his official duties on July 6, at the crossing point of Tevdore Mgvdeli and Abastumani Streets. Policeman was in the patrol police vehicle while his partner was outside, writing a ticket to the citizen. In this moment Mamuka Mgaloblishvili sustained injuries with a cold steel in face and neck areas by the detainee. Givi G. was detained by the wounded patrol-inspector and his partner at the place of crime.
Patrol-inspector Mamuka Mgaloblishvili was transferred to the University Clinic. He has already been discharged from the hospital. Investigation upon the fact of assaulting a policeman was launched by the investigative unit of the prosecutor’s office under the article 19-353, III part, which envisages the attempted murder of a police officer. The committed crime envisages from 16 to 20 years of imprisonment.
