The officers of the division for the fight against the organized crime under the Central Criminal Police Department along with Counter Intelligence Department of the State Security Service and prosecutor’s office as a result of the jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities brought to justice two Turkish citizens- Baris A. (DoB 1995), Zeki A. (DoB 1983) and Armenian citizen Armine D. (DoB 1983) for unauthorized alteration of the computer data and damaging the property.
Investigation established that the accused persons purchased the so called sim boxes and installed them at their rental apartments, located in Tbilisi and Marneuli. The accused persons placed sim cards of the “Mobitel” in the above mentioned appliances which received international calls through the internet-traffic. By means of the sim cards calls received through the internet traffic were received as the local calls. The so called sim-box provided call receiver with the data which was generated by sim-box and not the data of the call initiator. Cellular Communications Company received the minimum amount specified in the local calls instead of the lower limit of the tariff set by the law on international call service. The accused persons in total caused 11 620 GEL material damage to the “Mobitel”.
During the searching activities held in apartments located in Tbillisi and Marneuli law enforcers seized sim-boxes, large amount of the sim cards owned by “Mobitel” documentation confirming illegal money appropriation and other materials.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of unauthorized alteration of the computer data and damaging the property article 286 III part sub-paragraph A and article 185 III part sub-paragraph B of the Criminal Code.
