The employees of the Division of Combat Cybercrime of the MIA arrested Elene G. (Dob 1986), citizen of Georgia and Giorgi M. (Dob 1990), citizen of Russian Federation for unauthorized access to the computer system and secretly taking possession of money from a plastic card.
The investigation established that Elene G. worked as a waitress in the caf owned by Giorgi M; for the period from March to May, 2014 in conspiracy with him, using the special equipment – s.c. “Reader” – she illegally collected the card data of different clients of the caf and kept the PIN codes dialed by them on the terminals during payment. The accused illegally obtained the plastic cards` data of 300 civilians by the above mentioned method. Using illegally obtained data Giorgi M. - by means of the special equipment the s.c. “Writer” – manufactured forged plastic cards and cashed money from different ATMs with Elene G. In May, 2014 Elene G. and Giorgi M. illegally appropriated 1400 GEL belonging to different civilians.
During the search of their flats the law enforcement officers seized illegally appropriated money, 47 plastic cards, technical equipment – s.c. “Reader” and “Writer”, computers and the memory flash-cards. The accused admit their guilt.
The investigation is underway over the fact of illegal access to computer system, unauthorized keep of the access code to the computer system by a group’s conspiracy and using service position, manufacturing and using of forged card and stealing by a group’s conspiracy that resulted in a significance damage (sub clause “a”, part II, art. 284; sub clauses “a” and “b”, part II, art. 285; sub clause “a”, part II, and sub clause “a”, part III art. 177 and part I, art. 210 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
