Ministry of Internal Affairs intensively proceeded with the investigation of brutal murder of Nona Romanidze (D.o.B.: 1972) and her minor daughter Mariam Mamporia on February 22, this year in Zemo Ponichala.
Number of investigative operative measures were taken for solving this toughest crime; hundreds of samples for forensic studies were taken and dozens of expertise held, including ballistic, trace evidence, fingerprint, physical-technical, chemical, fire-technical and other. Hundreds of witnesses were questioned in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia; different versions arisen during the investigation were studied and processed.
As a result, the Ministry of Internal Affairs solved the murder that took place in Zemo Ponischala.
Officers of Tbilisi Police Department and Tbilisi Prosecutor's Office, as a result of the urgent jointly held operative-searching and investigative measures detained Giorgi Kh (date of birth: 1989) in Tbilisi with the accusation of premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances of two or more persons, including a child.
The investigation established that Giorgi Kh. –on February 22, in the morning - murdered Nona Romanidze (D.o.B.: 1972) – incurring 29 wounds to her with a cold arm and her minor daughter – Mariam Mamporia, incurring 16 wounds to the latter in their apartment in Tbilisi, Zemo Ponichala; after the mentioned, in order to cover up his tracks, he put up fire in the apartment and fled from the scene.
Police seized a knife – the weapon of the crime – as evidence. In addition, the traces of genetic profile of the detainee appeared on the crime weapon and various items found in the scene.
