The officers of Tbilisi Bureau of Interpol along with Patrol Police Department as a result of jointly held activities detained Turkish citizen Ali Riza Islam (DoB 1962) wanted by the Turkish law enforcers under the red notice worldwide. Detainee attempted to cross Georgian border from Latvia by means of the passport issued by Netherlands. He was detained at Tbilisi International Airport.
The mentioned person was wanted by the Interpol Bureau of Ankara from November 30, 2015. He was wanted under the articles 58, 220/1, 220/2, 188/3-4-5 and 53 which stand for creation of the criminal organized croup, transit of heroin and etc.
According to the information obtained by the Turkish law enforcers detainee planned to transport drugs to the direction of Europe. On February 20, 2013 special operation was carried out in Istanbul, as a result of which 101 kg and 700 gr of heroin was seized. In the course of investigation it was established that the criminal group was led by Ali Riza Islam.
At this moment detainee is placed in Tbilisi temporary detention center N1 while pre-extradition procedures are underway.
