The officers of the Unit for Combat Narco-Transit of the Main Division for Combat Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department, the MIA and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, as a result of joint operative-investigational measures detained Andres Joanes K. – citizen of the Republic of South Africa, D.o.B.: 1973 - for illicit import and distribution of drugs in Georgia in especially large quantity and Augustine Chekvudi O. – citizen of the Federative Republic of Nigeria, D.o.B.: 1971 - for illicit purchase and keeping of drugs in especially large quantity in Tbilisi.
The investigation established that Andres Joanes K. illegally imported the drug – cocaine - in especially large quantity to Georgia via Dubai-Tbilisi flight and delivered it to Augustine Chekvudi O. The law enforcers seized 1988,4568 gr. of cocaine during personal search of Augustine Chekvudi O. while 14 kg and 944 gr. marijuana was seized during search of his temporary apartment.
The investigation is in progress over the fact of illicit import of drugs in especially large quantity to Georgia and illicit purchase, keeping and distribution of drugs in especially large quantity (sub clause “a” of the 4th part of the article 262, sub clause “a” of the 6th part of the article 260, Criminal Code of Georgia).
